This is way better than second son and i wish they had just made this a full game and totally gotten rid of second son. You feel very overpowered all game even if you don't spend skill points. The majority of the game are a bunch of mini game esque challenges that you can do but not much else to actually do in the open world Infamous First Light starts a little bit before Second Son with Fetch the pink-haired, super speedy conduit with the neon power, who is in the training.

It's a downloadable spin-off to the solid PS4 title Infamous: Second Son, one that delves into the origin story of a super-powered character. Her abilities were fun to use and they made them more powerful than Delsin's version of her powers.which makes sense Infamous: First Light is typical in a lot of ways. Lightyears better than the Second Son story The story was interesting and gave a great background on Fetch (who I thought was the best character in Second Son). It was significantly better than the game that it is a prequel of in Second Son It doesn't take particularly long, however, to have her on full steam.īut even with its shorter length and expansion status, there's plenty to see here, offering tasks after the story has been completed and a smaller Seattle that's still as fun to destroy.This should have been a full game. It's well polished, but plays it so safe that there wasn't anything to really love or hate.įetch is upgradeable as you play through the game, with side quests helping net plentiful points to spend on her skill trees. The problem is, none of it ever feels fluid and the same 'snipe and shoot' move set gets boring very quickly.įor us, nothing in First Light ever really stood out. The superheroes of Infamous are a speedy bunch, capable of leaping about, climbing and shooting all at the same time. Gameplay too suffers from the same repetition and slightly clunky controls. This is no bad thing however, as like before, the writing and set of characters are fairly forgettable. The story keeps it simple - Fetch has to find her brother when he goes missing after a run-in with the police - largely because First Light doesn't have the play time of a proper fully fledged Infamous game. It's impressive for the first few hours of play, but just as before, never gets diverse enough to really become interesting. Fetch is a 'Conduit' capable of shooting bolts of neon from her hands and running vertically up walls as a glowing bolt of light. Speaking of powers, things are bite size here too. Still as a sandbox for you to execute your powers as a superhero in, it does the job. This is a bit of a shame, as it was the standout feature of the original. The same Seattle created for the first PS4 game makes a return here, but in shrunken down form. What you get is basically a bite size version of all things Infamous. The problem is, none of it ever feels fluid and the same 'snipe and shoot' move set gets boring very quickly.

A touch more tolerable, Fetch did at least leave us caring a little more about her fate during the four hours or so it takes to complete First Light.įor the most part, any prior knowledge of the Infamous story isn't really required. This time round, you play as Abigail 'Fetch' Walker, who featured alongside Delsin in Second Son.
